Petroleum Oriented Safety Training or “POST” outlines the responsibilities of the Owner, Supervisor and Worker during a construction project and any maintenance activity on a petroleum site.
The POST program gives emphasis on the worker in using a “behaviour based” safety approach. We believe this approach promotes a proactive safety culture and an increased level playing field within the industry.
Industry driven and supported by the major oil companies, POST has been developed to be a standard safety program specifically for petroleum work across Canada.
Program highlights
- How you can effectively change your behaviour towards safety
- Proper Personal Protective Equipment and why it's important
- How to properly complete the necessary forms and checklists i.e. JSA, Daily Safe Work Permit, Work at Heights Checklist
- POST Forms and Checklists are used across Canada on all petroleum sites
The POST program also includes an online worker orientation outlining the required safety documentation for petroleum sites and giving special focus towards the behaviour based safety approach and proper personal
protective equipment.
The orientation contains an evaluation at the end of the course to help the worker track their knowledge of key points.
The POST website encourages workers and contractors to visit the site often for the latest industry updates and safety bulletins. The site is a complete resource centre for online safety training, a searchable contractor database of POST certified companies and POST documents and forms all to help contractors maintain a safe work environment.
